The much-anticipated donghua (Chinese anime) adaptation of the manhua series The Last Summoner has finally secured a date for its release despite so many delays in the series' production process.

Last Summoner's release date is scheduled for April 26, 2022. Donghua will be broadcast in Bilibili as its official outlet with ASK Animation Studio handling production.

Synopsis / Storyline of The Last Summoner

The meeting of a talented young cook with a hungry girl who appears in his kitchen changes ordinary life forever. Dora, a summoned spirit and truly cute goddess, now calls him master. However, he was not interested at all and tried every means to get away from the ghostly figure. As fate would have it, when he became a summoner by accident, there was no turning back in life.

For many donghua fans, this is great news as the series has been delayed since its first announcement in 2018. Meanwhile Bilibili has continued to list the series as part of the annual releases of the Chinese anime lineup since 2019.

As you have noticed, most of these names are new except for Jiang Bian and Jinwen Chen who both play some of the most popular donghua characters in lead roles.

While the director is Yu Tian with Bohe Yingxiang providing the script with Jiang Bian as ADR Director. It's great learning Jiang Bian here as a staff as well as being famous as the voice actor for Lan Wangji from Mo Dao Zu Shi and Li Jinglong from Legend of Exorcism.

The Last Summoner is adapted from the manhua of the same title or also known as Zuihou De Zhaohuan Shi written by Bohe Yingxiang and illustrated and drawn by DAN and JEAN respectively with Xia Kou Naliang also working on the art. Manhua was released on January 22, 2016, in Tencent Comics.
