Google Showcases Pixel Watch Smartwatch, Has What Features?

After weeks of rumors and leaked photos circulating, Google has finally confirmed the presence of the Pixel Watch.

Google's first smartwatch was showcased through the annual Google I/O 2022 developer gathering event which was held on May 12 at around 00.00 WIB this morning.

But instead of launching, Google is just teasing fans by showcasing the Pixel Watch. Reportedly this smart watch will arrive in the fall, along with the Pixel 7, as quoted from The Verge, Thursday (12/5/2022).

Nothing too surprising in terms of design. As leaks circulated, the Pixel Watch has a circular and domed design and has a 'crown'. Crown itself is a physical button that functions as a "home" button or to access a list of applications.

Pixel Watch is made of recycled stainless steel and has an interchangeable strap. The device will run on the upgraded Wear OS 3 featuring an updated UI with better navigation and smart notifications.

Later users will also have the option to select the mobile version of the device for independent connectivity.

Software-wise, Google says that the Pixel Watch will have native Google apps. That includes essentials like Google Maps and the Assistant, as well as apps like Google Wallet and Google Home that are new to Wear OS. Another feature coming to Wear OS is Emergency SOS.

Users can also sync data to a Fitbit account, so it can be monitored via the Fitbit app and website.

Apart from the information above, Google has yet to provide further information regarding availability and pricing for the Pixel Watch.
